Shubhda Arora is an Associate Professor of Communication at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. She is a media sociologist working in the area of Disaster and Environmental Communication. Prior to her appointment at IIM Lucknow, she worked at FLAME University, Pune and Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon. Apart from this, Shubhda has taught Communication courses at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Jammu and Bennett University, Greater Noida.
Shubhda completed her doctoral degree from MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad) in 2015. Her thesis explores lived experiences and oral narratives of disaster affected communities in Leh, Ladakh. Shubhda's research interest include environmental communication and gender studies.
Shubhda was awarded the Research Excellence Fellowship (2016) by the Open Society Foundation (OSF) and Central European University, Budapest, Hungary to research and publish her study on the Nepal Earthquake in 2015. She was a guest researcher at the Disaster Research Unit (DRU), Freie Universistat, Berlin and a visiting scholar at CIVDES (Centro de Investigacion Vulnerabilidades y Desastres Socionaturales), Universidad de Chile, Santiago.
